The "Integral Salons" Blog Meme Continues
Pashmina continues where Dan and I left off. She takes particular issue with my preference for one-time gatherings, which she responds to here:
If all we had were these one-time events, I feel that we would lack the intimacy of challenging each other. Every encounter between us would be a flurry of greetings and kisses in the air, with beautiful states of creativity and a smattering of small jabs here and there. There's got to be a deeper commitment to each other, a stretch for each of us, and an endeavor to sustain the connections between us. We grow to learn who we are chiefly through contact with others.Anyone else want to take this one up as well? Coolmel? Matthew? TG? Had a good/great/horrible salon experience? Got some hard-won advice, some well-travelled injunctions? Share!

I'll get cracking.
i see Pashmina's point. and i see the value of it.
but since i'm one of those introverted personality types, i prefer the one-time (read: annual or semi-annual) gathering than intimate ones. we can still have the intimacy and challenge at-a-distance (e.g. blogs, groups, forums, multiply, etc...). but yeah, it's still hard to make out, get high, and get wasted remotely :)
are you kidding?
im doing all three and im at the library.
but seriously, one time events are important, but sustained salons or studios have the habit of really kicking your ass, and getting you to get shit done, regardless of the circumstances. Very important for people with wandering childlike minds.
